Our CBA Executive has been hard at work to get our questions answered and bring us updates on all the changes being announced.

Here are some of the latest updates and answers.

  1. IRCC will accept incomplete applications across all lines of business. Applications will be reviewed in 90 days with further extensions provided as needed.

    • Records of solemnization can be provided with spousal sponsorships, with marriage certificates to follow when available.

    • Applications that do not have photos will not be rejected

    • Specifically indicate what documents are missing due to COVID-19

  2. Confirmation of PR (CoPR) documents are still being issued. Those with CoPRs issued prior to March 18 can travel. For those in Canada who have been issued CoPRs, arrangements are being made for completing landing interviews that are not in person.

  3. PR cards - all new cards and renewals are being sent to applicants or representatives in Canada. Options are being canvassed for those applications that require an interview.

  4. Work permit holders and those with work permit approval letters - it is recommended that you carry a letter from the employer confirming the job is still available and also include a self-isolation plan.

  5. Work permit applicants from visa-exempt countries - these applications are usually made on arrival at a port of entry. Further guidance is pending.

  6. Expiring passports for in-Canada temporary residents - a passport renewal application and visa extension may not be possible due to the suspension of consular services. IRCC is formulating a policy to deal with extensions for such individuals.

  7. Inland refugee applications - no forms are currently required. IRCC is asking 15 basic questions and asking for a photo of the claimants’ passport bio page.

Stay tuned for further updates as they come!
