Legal Assistant – Corporate, Commercial & Estates

Caron & Partners LLP is a mid-sized Calgary law firm dedicated to providing clients with quality legal services and strategic counselling for over 55 years. We offer a broad range of legal services across a variety of practice areas.

Our firm is growing, and we are looking for a Legal Assistant to join our team, supporting our Corporate, Commercial, and Wills & Estates departments.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and manage legal documents related to incorporations, reorganizations, share and asset purchases, and commercial real estate transactions.

  • Support estate planning processes, including trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and personal directives.

  • Assist with estate administration, including probate applications and executor support.

  • Maintain and organize client files, calendars, and correspondence.

  • Liaise professionally with clients, courts, and government agencies.

  • Perform general administrative duties, including billing, file opening and closing, collections, and document management.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Legal Assistant certification from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate and commercial transactions.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in estate planning and estate administration.

  • Experience with the Court of King’s Bench electronic surrogate portal and forms.

  • Experience with Unity is considered an asset.

  • Commercial business lending background is considered an asset.

  • PPR certification is considered an asset.

  • Clio experience is considered an asset.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and training.
