Jennifer D. Sykes

Jennifer practises primarily in municipal law, advising on a broad range of matters including governance, land development, expropriation, bylaw and policy drafting, annexations, intermunicipal disputes, procurement, land acquisition, leasing and disposal, utility servicing, taxation, bylaw enforcement, contracts, risk management, and dispute resolution. 

She regularly represents clients before administrative tribunals, including the Land and Property Rights Tribunal and subdivision and development appeal boards, as well as all levels of court in Alberta. 

Jennifer also assists administrative tribunals in their decision-making processes, ensuring they meet their legal obligations, and is known for her ability to clearly communicate complex legal concepts. 

In addition, she leads the firm’s employment practice group, representing both employers and employees in matters including employment agreements, workplace policies, terminations, dispute resolution, and human rights issues. 

Jennifer is an IMI Qualified Mediator and has a certificate in workplace restorations.
