Dean Hutchison practices primarily in the areas of insolvency and restructuring law and debtor-creditor law, as well as in the area of commercial litigation.  Dean has experience in all manner of insolvency and restructuring matters, such as proposal to creditors (both formal and informal), receiverships, foreclosures, security realizations, bankruptcies, the negotiation and implementation of forbearance agreements, and matters under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the Companies Creditors Arrangement Act.  He regularly represents and advises financial institutions, secured lenders, companies in financial distress, unsecured creditors, investors, court appointed officers and insolvency professionals.

Dean’s commercial litigation practice involves landlord-tenant disputes, contractual disputes, creditor-debtor matters, and real property disputes.  He regularly resolves disputes through negotiation, judicial dispute resolutions (JDR), mediation, arbitration, as well as through the formal court process.

Dean has appeared before every level of the Courts in Alberta, as well as the Court of Queen’s Bench of Saskatchewan and Manitoba, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the Court of Appeal of Saskatchewan, and administrative tribunals such as the Municipal Government Board and the Human Rights Board.

Prior to joining Caron & Partners LLP, Dean practiced at large regional firm for ten years, and at a large national firm for five years.  He brings large firm experience at smaller firm proficiencies.
